After you finish an American Heart Association course with us, your certification is issued as an eCard rather than a physical card. The eCard is the AHA's official record of completion, and it's how employers, licensing boards, and HR teams verify that your training is real and current. Claiming the card takes a few minutes; once claimed, it stays accessible online for the full two-year validity period.
Claim your eCard via email
Most students claim their card from the email invitation we send through the AHA system.
- Access the eCard claim link at [https://ecards.heart.org/student/myecards](https://ecards.heart.org/student/myecards).
- An email from `eCards@heart.org` will arrive with a claim invitation link. Check your spam or junk folder if you don't see it. The link directs you to the Student Profile webpage, where you should verify all details: First Name, Last Name, Email, Phone Number (if used for SMS claiming), eCard Code, AHA Instructor Name, and Training Center information. Contact your Training Center if any corrections are needed.
- Establish your security question and answer. Agree to site terms and select Submit.
- Fill out the survey regarding your completed course. Your feedback helps enhance future AHA training quality.
- Your eCard displays after survey completion. You may save or print it.
- You'll receive an email confirmation once claimed; retain this for your records.
Claiming your eCard constitutes the official proof of course completion for employers. To email your eCard to an employer, follow step 5 under "How to View your Claimed eCard" below.
Claim your eCard via the eCards site
If you didn't receive — or can't find — the email invitation, you can claim manually.
- Go to the eCards Search page. Under the Student tab, enter First Name, Last Name, and the email used during course registration OR input your eCard Code at the page bottom (request this from your Training Center). Click Search.
- Once your information validates correctly, you'll see My eCards. Find your "Unclaimed" eCard and proceed through the steps to claim it, including creating a security question and answer. If your eCard doesn't appear, contact your Training Center to confirm your details.
Claim your eCard via SMS text
An Instructor or Training Center must first enter your mobile phone number into the eCards system when issuing your eCard.
- Text eCard to `51736` during or after class to opt-in and claim/view your eCard.
- Text-message instructions on claiming your eCard will arrive if sent correctly per your Instructor's guidance.
- If your number isn't in the system, you'll receive notification that your phone number was not found.
How to view your claimed eCard
- Visit the eCards Search page. On the Student tab, enter First Name, Last Name, and Email (the email used for course registration) OR enter your eCard Code at the page bottom. Click Search. Answer your security question.
- Upon correct information entry, the My eCards page displays. Contact your Training Center to verify information if your eCard doesn't appear.
- To download your eCard, select desired size (Full or Wallet) at View eCard.
- To email your eCard, choose Email Cards, enter the recipient email, and click Email.
How an employer can verify a student's claimed eCard
The student must have claimed their eCard for an employer to view it.
- Access the eCards Search page. Under the Employer tab, input the eCard Code (up to 20) and click Verify.
- The resulting page displays the eCard Status for each entered code.
